The Crown Princess Mary obsession #8

Yes, we still have a couple of posts left to hear your stories. I've really enjoyed every single one of them. It has been incredible to get to know you better and great to write something else than just my own thoughts. A goal has always been to write about things you like and have an interest in, which is why these posts are great. I get a glimpse of your life and why you admire the Danish Crown Princess. This gives me a clue of what to write about. As I just said, we still have two amazing posts left and every time I so much look forward to share them with all of you. Many of you I have been so lucky to write stories about is people I have been even more lucky to get a rather close friendship with, which the same with this woman -Catherine. Take good care or her and read her story with pleasure. I am sure you'll love it as much as I do.

Catherine's passion about the royals actually started somewhere else; in another country and another royal woman. The royal woman we all know the story of because of the tragedy that happened in 1997. Of course I'm talking about Princess Diana. We know how troubled her life was, which was revealed after her death leaving two little boys and a husband when she died in a car crash. "Many years ago (long before your were born!) I really enjoyed reading about Princess Diana. Following her movements as well as her fashion."  I am sure we all have a certain love for Diana. Her quiet, and caring personality. Her figure as a princess, mother and wife is still worth talking about. The tragic death in 1997 was a terrible loss for everyone. Because Catherine was a dedicated follower of Princess Diana, she lost her number one princess. I can't imagine how this must have felt. "... I had no-one to adore in the magazines each week anymore." So sure there are some of you out there who also lost their beloved princess back then.

But than came this average Australian woman who married a certain Danish Prince seven years later. Mary Elizabeth Donaldson from Tasmania. One of the reasons why Mary caught her attention was the fact that she is from Australia: "In part I follow her because she is Australian and because of her sense of style."

As I told you, Catherine and I have known each other for quite a while now. We have never met personally, but I still very much enjoy her company. I know Catherine because she once texted me and right since we have had contact now and than. Actually, she chose to use much of her answers to my 'obsession-questions' about your Mary hobby, to write about StyleofMary! That made me so happy I can't barely describe the feeling. "Your blog, Style of Mary, is certainly the best site for following her fashion. In 2014 my favourite things to do, was to print off the pictures from the categories 'fashion 1,2,3 and 4'. I am hoping that you will do a 'fashion 5' in 2015." Despite the fact that I know you all love these categories so much I have decided to remove them. Not that I want to. but in a way I feel I have to. You already know why.

"Once again, thank you so much for all the time and effort that you put into Style of Mary, it is very much appreciated." .. and you are more than welcome! I love writing knowing that someone out there in the big big world actually enjoy what I do. I want to thanks Catherine for letting us know a little about her Mary-story, how she became a decimated follower of her and the fact that I had the chance to write and share her story. It is very much appreciated.

Catherine loves the pictures of Mary and Frederik from 2013 when they were on official visit in Australia. That is why she chose these photos. They are from the first day when the Crown Prince couple were welcomed by the public in front of Sydney Opera House.

Presentation of the annual Christmas stamp 2015

Wednesday, October 28th

Crown Princess Mary attended the annual presentation of the Christmas stamp accompanied by Queen Margrethe. The presentation took place at Copenhagen City Hall.

A few hours later the Crown Princess attended a 15th birthday conference for Children, Young people & Grief taking place in the public hall at Christiansborg palace.

Queen Margrethe & Crown Princess Mary at the presentation of the Christmas Stamp 2015

For years the Crown Princess has attended the presentation of the annual Christmas stamp, this year was no exception other than she was accompanied by her mother-in-law, Queen Margrethe. It is as patron of the Christmas Seal Foundation she attended. Around 12:00 pm the Crown Princess and Queen arrived to Copenhagen City Hall. My guess is that the Queen accompanied the Crown Princess because she's the one who designed this year's stamp on occasion of the founders 150th birthday. It is the third time Queen Margrethe has created the Christmas stamps -first in 1970, then in 2003 and now. The sale goes to four existing Christmas Seal Homes who helps children to get a grip on their diet and exercise, to make new friends and help them to handle, among others, bullying. Both of them were in a really good mood when they were welcomed with flowers, smiles and handshakes. Queen Margrethe's bouquet even matched her red jacket. The Crown Princess and Queen entered the stage wearing bright red and black tartan to reveal the most beautiful stamps featuring children sending, writing and receiving letters and snow-white turtledoves. The stamps are named 'What a postman - a dove' made with inspiration from an old song and game from the Queen's childhood. For sure Denmark has a artistic and creative Queen. While the Crown Princess sad next to the some of the participants; Queen Margrethe stayed on the stage and gave her speech. Eloquent and smiling as always, she expressed her joy with the event. At the same time she had to apologize, but she had caught a cold on the way back home from Indonesia, where she and Prince Henrik were on official visit a few days before, and therefore had difficulty hearing as good as usual. The best of wishes with her recovery.

Mary dazzled in her beautiful new dress featuring a kind of tartan print. The print reminds me of a vintage print from the 40s and in the different shades of grey she really caught my attention wearing this dress. Luckily I have the most amazing followers who are always ready to help me in my search for all her new things. Like one million searches later and no result at all I gave up. Simple as that. Before I once again began my search, one friend sent me what I was looking for. Thanks to Lurdes I now know that her new dress is from Oscar de la Renta. What was your first thought when you saw the dress? I was a bit surprise by the print, but it was love at first sight for me. At the arrival she wore a navy blue coat, showing her elegance and 50s inspired look. After all, I know a thing or two about vintage silhouettes etc. and Mary's outfit had the perfect silhouettes. Still, I haven't been able to identify her coat yet. Maybe you have any ideas? Let me know what's on your mind. It is not just her outfit that impressed me; her hairstyle did as well. The french twist is one of my absolute favourite hairstyles. It's rather simple to make, with a little practice. And as almost any other hairstyle Mary rock it with perfection. She embraced the style with diamond earrings from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen, an unidentified ring, her black Carlend Copenhagen clutch and a pair of pumps I can't determine if we have seen them before.

Crown Princess Mary attending the 15th birthday conference of Children, Young people & Grief

Around one and a half hour later, after she attended the presentation of the annual Christmas stamp 2015 where the money goes to the Christmas Seal Homes in Denmark that helps children with diet and exercise etc, the Crown Princess arrived to the public hall at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen to attend Children, Young People & Grief's 15th birthday conference. The most remarkable thing about her visit is undoubtedly the moving speech she gave after the arrival. Children, Young People & Grief, which the Crown Princess has been patron of since 2013, offers free help to children and adolescents, under the age of 28 whose parents or siblings are severely ill or died. In a very young age the Crown Princess lost her mother, Henrietta Donaldson, in 1997 during a heart surgery. Talking about her mother made a huge impression. A loss that affected the entire family. Everyone listening were moved and touched by her very personal speech.

The Crown Princess was in a really great mood and filled with confidence when she, around noon, arrived to attend a conference on well-being of children in their spare time. The conference took place in House of Sport in Brøndby. Here she, among others, participate a debate on girls well-being because studies have shown that girls are less able to adapt socially in spare time activities as for instance in a football club than boys are. The reason why I mention football clubs as an example is because Mary has in collaboration with the Mary Foundation, Red Barnet, DBU and TrygFonden developed the project Klubfidusen working with bullying and loneliness among boys and girls in football clubs in Denmark. This project, established in 2013, is a great start to fight for well-being among children. To welcome everybody she gave a speech where she pointed out how important it is for all kids to enjoy their spare time, here. School is not something the kids decide, it's needed, but in their spare time they get to decide how to enjoy activities they like whether it is football, choir or a third thing. Many children look forward to their leisure activities. The sad thing is that studies, made by the Mary Foundation and Red Barnet, show that every eighth child has stopped for a leisure activity partly because of bullying or failure to thrive and in and fifty percent of these cases, though the child's parents do not about this reason. At the conference several well-known people attended as Claus Bretton Meyer, the CEO of Danish Football Association and journalist Jess Dorf Petersen and Morten Ankerdal also attended. The Crown Princess gave an interview to Tv2 after yesterday's event, here. The interview is about 5 minutes and show how well-informed and eloquent she is.

What Mary wore at the conference was really great. She embrace a business-looking outfit by wearing one of her well-known Prada blouses last worn when Prince William and his wife Cathertine, Duchess of Cambridge a few years ago. At that time, she wore the blue blouse with black trousers and a long black coat. Not the best combination, this one is much better. The slim trousers and new blazer showed her figure beautifully. I fell in love with the new Massimo Dutti blazer right away. First the style reminded my of something special, but after a quick search I ran out of ideas. I thought I had to have you help but suddenly 'Massimo Dutti' popped up in my head and guess what, here it was. So no need for help on that one. For quite a while not many pictures of Mary have been published, which is such a shame I think. That is why it's so hard for me to tell exactly what she wore during the different events. What I see from yesterday is a golden bracelet that looks new, her golden Cartier watch and that she might be wearing nail polish. I would so much like to tell you more about all of this, but right not it's not possible. The curly hair and natural makeup gave her the perfect feminine look I love so much. Her Jewlscph earrings are reused, but really hard to track down anymore. That dazzling burgundy bag is from Hugo Boss, first worn in Lithuania last month, here. Because of the bag I would have love if she wore matching pumps, but she didn't. In the end I'm quite impressed by everything I see from what she wore at the conference.

It is all about world peace. "Me and Malala share the same vision. We want a peaceful world. I admire her" these are the words the Crown Princess chose when she arrived to the Grand Theatre in Copenhagen on Sunday to watch the documentary He named me Malala which has its premiere in Denmark the same day. It was 3:00 pm when she arrived to the theatre. This gala premiere was also to mark the start of Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, CPH:DOX, -one of the largest documentary film festivals in the world. Every year since 2013, Copenhagen cinemas are filled with over 200 specially selected documents from around the world. It's quite interesting to read about the project and if you want to read a little more you find it here.
The Crown Princess and the the Pakistani girl Malala, which the documentary is about, have more then one thing in common despite living a world apart. They both work for a better world where women and girls have more rights and better living conditions. The reason why Malala became known across the globe was because she defied the Taliban and told her opinion on child and women's rights in connection with school. At the time the press was all over her to hear what she had to say. Almost everyone in the world had heard about this Pakistani girl who almost was killed by a terrorist attack because of her statement. She survived and told her story; a question on why we need to control our own life. This 18 year old girl, Malala Yousafzai, has been able in a very short time to share her message and stand up for girl's and women. For her incredible work and courage she has also received several awards: The United Nations Human Rights Prize (2013), the Mother Teresa Award (2012), the Simone de Beauvoir award (2013) and of course the Nobel Peace Prize (2014) as the youngest recipient ever. Very impressive young woman.

In her grey wool Massimo Dutti coat, worn at a previously event, Mary arrived in the afternoon to watch the documentary I just talked so much about. She seemed happy at the arrival and even took the time to take pictures with some of attendees standing outside the cinema. No rush at all. After, she shortly spoke with the press while she was headed to find her seat and watch the documentary. Wearing ankle boots which I think is from Gianvito Rossi and her grey Mulberry body-cross bag featuring a golden chain shoulder strap. Despite the fact that this is quite an event we only have a very few pictures of her, non without the coat. So it's a little hard for me to tell exactly what she was wearing underneath. What we see is a white collar probably from a button-down shirt and a navy blue sweater, but this gives us at least two options: either she's wearing a white button-down and a sweater over (this is a combo we have seen before) or her JOSEPH blouse that are designed to look like she is wearing a white button-down underneath. I know it sounds complicated, still I hope you understand what I mean about all this. I think it is very likely that she is wearing her JOSEPH jumper because I see similarities with the two collars. Think I see her diamond earrings from Hartmann's as well.

Inauguration of a new soldiers home's in Birkerød

Friday, October 23rd

Crown Princess Mary attended the inauguration of KFUMs new soldiers home's transition housing for veteran families in Høvelte, Birkerød.

Well, I know I'm a few days behind with this post from when the Crown Princess attended the inauguration in Birkerød couple of days ago. But I have been so busy with everything else and yesterday I attended my aunts 40th birthday which began at noon and lasted all day, so... better late than never, right? It is the third time the Crown Princess attend the inauguration of a new soldiers homes as transition housing for veteran families. These new homes are build in Høvelte in Birkerød by KFUM. The Crown Princess arrived to Birkerød in Crown 8 on a very windy and cold October day. Still, she was met by friendly and smily faces as well as music played by the Royal Life Guards band, which immediately gave a warm atmosphere among the participants. One reason for the Crown Princess to attend this very special day is, among others, because she is patron of KFUM Soldiers Mission. She has had the title since 2012 and has also been in Afghanistan back in 2009 to visit Danish soldiers deployed in Camp Bastion, all as patron of KFUM. As part of the inauguration she cut a red ribbon with a golden scissors to officially mark the opening of these new soldiers homes in Hølvelte. The Crown Princess was given a guided tour around the new facilities after the traditional royal opening ceremony. She also got the change to talk with some of the veterans, who told her how a typical day is.

The day before Mary attended the opening of the new soldiers home in Birkerød, she attended the DANISH Design Talent - Magasin Prize 2015, here, at the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen to present this years winner. She was dressed in the most magnificent white creation by YDE Copenhagen. The floor length evening gown has been topic of many discussions right since. I can't stop loving it. With feathers and all. It was a little more of an everyday outfit we saw at the inauguration in Birkerød. She chad chosen to wear a navy blue double breasted coat seen at a couple of times before. I had a hard time trying to identify where this coat comes from, but Kate managed to find it at Prada. Unfortunately, it is no longer available anymore so I can't really share any link with you. I have the pictures stored on my computer to those of you who would like to see them. Mary embrace the chic autumn style by wearing matching blue leather gloves and her Lanvin pumps featuring a bow. A true royal outfit. As goes with the coat, I have so much trouble figuring out where that checkered clutch is from. I strongly believe it is from Prada because I have found another featuring same technique. Take a look at the link below and tell me what you think. Do you have any other designers in mind, then let me know. Many of you also pointed out that she was wearing some kind of new brooch and indeed she was. When you buy such a floral brooch, you donate money to Kræftens Bekæmpelse who work to give people with cancer at better life. Very thoughtful of her. And of course we have her diamond earrings from Hartmann's. A lovely outfit worn by a lovely woman.

Yesterday evening at 7:00 pm. the Crown Princess arrived the National Gallery of Denmark as an angle in her breathtaking white evening gown. She was present for this years DANISH Design Talent -Magasin Prize 2015 at a gala show and dinner with all the over 200 special invited guests. This is the third time the Magasin Prize are presented and the Crown Princess was the one to reveal the this years winner. Besides the honor and the chance to get their own fashion show during Copenhagen Fashion Week in January, the winner or winners takes home DKK 500,000. Four different design talents compete about all this. The guests all arrived on the red carpet where a sea of photographers were lined up to get the best pictures of men and women dressed in stunning evening clothes. I think we saw the most amazing evening gown decorated with feathers, sequins, flowers, lace etc. All with dazzling jewellery and clutches. An evening where we get to see the very best. It really was a evening to remember. By the way it is the second time the Crown Princess attend the prestigious event. The last time she attended was in 2014 where Mark Tan won. You might remember that name, because Mark Tan also won one of The Crown Prince Couple's Stardust Prizes only a few months ago. During the dinner, several artists entertained wearing the four design talents creations. The four nominated talents also presented their very own mini collection, which was followed by the attendants with great pleasure. After all the eating, music, fashion shows and much more the final moment had arrived: this years winner was about to be announced. who will be this years winner of the DANISH Design Talent Magasin Prize 2015? Before I tell you who actually won last night prize I think you should hear a little about the four nominated design talents.
The moment when the Crown Princess and Nina Wedell-Wedellsborg of the Magasin Foundation entered the stage, everyone were holding their breath to hear her announce the winner. Everyone went crazy when Tonsure won. I really want to congratulate the two gentlemen with the amazing title. Before I mentioned that the four nominated design talents had created a mini collection which were worn by the band Scarlet Pleasure who performed during the dinner. The band consists of Malte Flagstad, who has worked as a menswear designer for Maison Martin Margiela in Paris and Adam El-Zayat Hjort, a former manager of Aiaiai and purchases of Henrik Vibskov.

The main theme of this evening is undoubtedly fashion. Innovative, architectural, colorful, minimalist fashion. We are allowed to see the latest creations, trends and what the latest collection has to offer. And who is better at representing this? -Mary of course. Mary is always well- and appropriate dressed whether she going to visit at kindergarden, a hospital or attending a fashion event like last night. We love her because of her true elegance and confident style. No wonder why she was given the title as the best dressed woman in the world more than once. Her outfit from yesterday has already gained a lot of negative criticism which I do not understand. To me she looked like a white angle from the sky wearing feathers on the shoulders. These feathers are those who have been criticized the most -the thing I love the most about the gown. Late last night I received the first photo of Mary standing next to Nina Wedell-Wedellsborg of the Magasin Foundation at the arrival and right away the question occurred: where does this gown come from? My first though was a Malene Birger creation because of the mix of a minimalistic dress decorated with stones and feathers. A second later another Danish designer crossed my mind, YDE Copenhagen. He create feminine and glamorous designs. And you know what? - YDE Copenhagen (Spring/Summer 2016) is in fact the designer of Mary's new dreamy white gown. Apparently the dress can also be worn without the feathers, but I'm so glad she didn't take them off. Mary you won my heart. She only wore very few accessories. First we have her Judith Leiber clutch, a golden leaves bracelets and ring from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. Very elegant. I still would like to see what pair of shoes she was wearing and a close up of her hairstyle.

Congratulations Prince Christian

Today, on October 15, a special boy celebrate his 10th birthday. The little prince, who has now become a rather handsome young man, has grown so fast. For sure I am not the only one who have this thoughts, right? On the occasion of Prince Christians birthday, the family has released four new photos captured by photographer Steen Evald, here. Really, really beautiful photos. I like the fact that Ziggy is sitting next to him on one of the photos. It's not the first time we get to see the beloved dog on official pictures of the family. Congratulations to Prince Christian on his birthday.

Old news: Phoenix as musical

October, Saturday 10th

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary watched the musical Phoenix in Tivoli, Copenhagen, along with all four children.

Like every other school kid, the four royal children have one week vacation on Friday. This gives them the opportunity to get some time along with their mother and father. So, Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary spend Saturday afternoon along with all four children watching the musical Phoenix in Tivoli in Copenhagen. The musical is preformed by more than 100 of the most talented young people in Glassalen in Tivoli. It is a family musical by Gunvor Reynberg and Christian Dahlberg. Phoenix is an adventurous journey back to the ancient Russia, a magic journey that will awaken your imagination. It was a private visit and only a few were lucky enough to get a couple of photos of the royal family. I was really not sure whether or not I should show the photo because I have the attitude that we should give the royals some spare time on their own. I have discussed this issue with you a million times before. They also need a little privacy. Nevertheless, I have chosen to share this with you anyway because I don't think it offend anyone. I am in no doubt that both parents and children enjoy the day.
According to Frederik et Mary the Crown Princess also attended the wedding of the American ambassador in Denmark taking place in Copenhagen City Hall the same day as she watched the musical with her family. Here the Crown Princess was wearing one of her fantastic YDE Copenhagen dresses as in 2011 when she attended the 100th anniversary of the American Scandinavian Foundation in New York, here

With a couple of pictures from their day in Tivoli, we also have the chance to see what Mary was wearing. I have always loved her outfits, especially the ones being worn as everyday-looks. This time she was dressed in good old clothes in navy blue colours -my favourite. The calendar tells us October, which means cold and windy weather in Denmark. So, Mary had chosen to dress as the weather wants to. Slim jeans, a navy blue sweater matched with a white button-down and her reversible Massimo Dutti coat. She embraced the style with a pair of Isabel Marant boots and what could be her Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses. A classy look accessorized with her caramel brown Ralph Lauren bag, which is on the top of my wish list right now. Don't think I will ever be able to afford it, but I still adore the brown bag.

Free of Bullying seminar

October, Thursday 8th

Crown Princess Mary attended a Free of Bullying seminar with the Mary Foundation in Tivoli Congress Centre in Copenhagen.
Billedbladet.dk

Early in the morning the Crown Princess arrived to the Tivoli Congress Centre in Copenhagen to attend a international Free of Bullying seminar with the Mary Foundation. She was in a really great mood at the arrival such as during the day, probably before of the fact that countries around the world try to combat bullying among children. Something the Crown Princess and the foundation have been working for in years now. Representatives from both Greenland, Estonia, Iceland, Lithuania and the Faroe Islands had traveled to Denmark to cooperate and exchange experience in anti-bullying program Free of Bullying. All the participants were ready to get a couple of good hours along with the Crown Princess. There was plenty of time to discuss ideas on how the different countries best fight against bullying, which is the main goal with the Free of Bullying project made by the Mary Foundation. As far as I know the idea comes from the Australian foundation Alannah and Madeline Foundation, which also gave the Crown Princess the idea about what her own foundation should focus on. The Crown Princess also gave the opening speech where she pointed out how glad she is that so many people have taken the initiative to prevent bullying among children. Such as how and with which tools this can be done. I think it was a proud Crown Princess who got the chance to welcome the 30 representatives participating the seminar. One thing I noticed in her speech, is the importance to create an environment where children feel good and have the courage to be who they are.
Later in the afternoon the participants of the seminar visited a kindergarden in Nørrebro, Copenhagen, to see for themselves how the Free of Bullying-project works. Because of the successful results, the project has now attracted international attention that's why the anti-bullying program has now gone global. It has already helped so many children in Denmark and Greenland. The Crown Princess met with some of these children a few year ago when she visited Greenland with the Mary Foundation. I think the program is made for success and I really hope it will be able to help many more children, such as young people, to a better life without bullying and give them tools to prevent bullying in the future. What I'm aware of the project also helps children to know what to do when they see someone being bullied. Another important aspect of combating bullying.

Then let's talk fashion. Mary was dressed in the most incredible outfit at the seminar. Very edgy with a touch of that special "Mary-fairy-dust". I fell in love with her outfit right away. I adore every single part of it. The quote "less is more" perfectly describe today's outfit. I wouldn't doubt for a second if anyone asked me to wear this. Most of her outfit was identified before I had even had the time to write the post, which also goes with her new long navy blue vest. The credit goes to Else-Marie who was able to identify this new wonder as 2nd Day. A designer we have never seen Mary wear before. 2nd Day is create by the designers from DAY Birger et Mikkelsen. These vest's or sleeveless coats are the most trendy and fashionable to purchase this Autumn. I completely get it -they look magnificent. This is the second time we get to see Mary wear such a piece. I am sure you remember her peach vest from Fonnesbech. When wearing that, she was quickly voted the most stylish royal woman. She embraced the chic style by wearing a white Hugo Boss blouse and black trousers. Once again she had chosen to wear her nude Prada handbag, matched with new pointed pumps from Prada. As other jewellery she stunned wearing her golden Orit Elhanati necklace and two Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen rings. I also spotted another small necklace, which I strongly believe we have seen before years ago. To be more precise in 2010 when Queen Margrethe celebrated her 70th birthday, here. Marianne Dulong is the designer of her golden earrings featuring diamonds. I simply can't get enough of this look.

Women Deliver Committee Meeting

Tuesday, October 6th

Crown Princess Mary attended a Women Deliver Committee Meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen. The meeting was held after the opening of the Parliament at 12:00 pm.

Only two and a half hour after she arrived with her husband to Christiansborg castle in Copenhagen to attend the annual opening of the Parliament, the Crown Princess joined a meeting. The meeting was organized by Women Deliver; an organization we have heard quite a lot about the last few months. First of all because the Crown Princess is a member, she has been selected as patron of next years conference which will be held in Denmark and because of her dedication to the project. Yesterday's meeting she attended with Minster for Foreign Affairs, Kristian Jensen, whom she has worked with before in New York during the UN General Assembly. Apparently he promised her one of the 'dizzy-goal' footballs which she was given at yesterdays meeting. It was received with great pleasure. She wasn't the only one who got a football, because the Crown Princess and Minster for Foreign Affairs Kristian Jensen handed over 20 balls to the 20 committee members. On each and every one of them the 17 world goals of United Nations were written. This will let the members remember to make next years conference a great experience for the benefit of women worldwide. During the meeting the Crown Princess was in an exceptional mood, which proves how much she cares about the Women Deliver-project. With a smile on her lips, she handed over footballs to left and right in a pretty fast move like a professional to the participants and talking at the same time. Quite a performance. The meetings are in preparation for the Women Deliver conference in May next year which will be held in Denmark where one of the focus areas is gender equality.

About three hours before the committee meeting Mary was dressed in a new lace pencil skirt and a black peplum. At the meeting she grabbed everything gorgeous from the 60s and right there we have Mary; a modern women in a 60s inspired outfit. I know her look was also almost only black, but some black items are more exciting than others. Here we have a pattern included that makes the difference to me. Another reason why I just love her outfit is because of the new houndstooth blouse identified by Kate as Baum und Pferdgarten (Autumn/Winter 2015). Finally, I'm able to tell you a little more detailed what she also wore at the meeting. As I assumed she wore slim black trousers and matching pumps. To me they look like SAND Copenhagen. A beautiful and simple hairdo completed a perfect outfit, such as the golden Cartier watch. Now when I have seen the rest of her outfit I love it even more than I did before. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the purple/bordeaux suede belt. What a wonderful detail.

Opening of the Parliament 2015

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the opening of the Parliament, which takes place each year on the first Tuesday in October. The couple were accompanied by Queen Margrethe, Prince Henrik, Prince Joachim, Princess Marie and Princess Benedikte.

The first Tuesday in October is a special day in Denmark, because it is the day when the Danish Parliament opens after the parliament members holiday. The opening also marks the beginning of a new parliamentary session and especially this year because we in 2014 had an election that gave  us a new government.
Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik arrived to Christiansborg castle at 11:45 am. followed by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, then Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Marie and last Princess Benedikte. The royal family attends the Parliamentary session from the balcony which gives them a view of the entire parliament hall. A few years back I visited the parliament at Christiansborg castle in the center of Copenhagen. I joined a guided tour around the building and got the change to get close to these royal seats. Even though it is just chairs, it was a great experience for me. Think I was the only one even paying attention to the chairs. Many traditions are attached to the annual Parliament opening: the members must give their speech in the correct order, the royal family should be treated in the right way and not least the Prime Minister give the opening speech. This year's speech was given by our new Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen. I watched the broadcast and I'm very impressed by his speech -eloquent and judicious.

It was with great excitement I watched the opening and I have to admit, not really what I had expected. Do you remember her look from last year? -a white coat with purple accessories, here? That outfit stunned me. Today my eyes were drawn to Princess Marie because she really nailed it. Pastel colours matched with snake skin pumps. Absolutely magnificent. Mary's outfit was a bit more plain and monotone. I had hoped for some more colours, eye catching pumps or maybe another hat. Although, she was really good-looking at the opening. She was dressed in what I think is her black peplum from Hugo Boss and a new grey lace skirt identified by Heaven as Dolce & Gabbana. She was wrapped up in a black shawl to keep a little warm in the cold October weather. Today's outfit was accessorized with earrings, bracelets and a ring from Marianne Dulong. Mary also embraced the style by wearing her old Carlend Copenhagen clutch and pumps from SAND Copenhagen. I think her hat could be a creation from Susanne Juul, but I have nothing to prove it. According to Royal Hats it's an old one with new flowers. A little too plain I think for the event, but not bad at all. Though her outfit is not as I expected she never disappoints me. I'm stunned by her elegance and down-on-earth attitude.

The Crown Prince Couple's Prizes 2015

Saturday, October 3rd

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the presentation of the Crown Prince Couple's Prizes 2015 taking place in Kulturværftet, Helsingør.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary arrived to Kulturværftet in Helsingør with Kronborg castle in the background. They arrived shortly before 8:00 pm. local time to host this year's Crown Prince Couple's Prizes 2015. The award show was broadcasted live on Danish television and lasted about one and a half hour. Did you watch the show? I did. I do every year. It has become a annual tradition and I really love this year's show. Usually I only look for pictures on the internet, but a few times a year I take the chance to enjoy her live on TV. The Crown Prince Couple's Prizes is our window into the Danish artistic world. We see musicians, writers, designers etc. A little bit of everything really. An evening of true admiration and honoring Danish artists for their innovative and creative work.

Several different artists are nominated and only four of them wins a prize at the award show. The Crown Prince Couple have presented these four prizes the last eleven years every years at a different location somewhere in Denmark. The Crown Princes Couple's Prizes was established in 2004 as a wedding gift to the couple and was first presented in 2005. This was a gift from the Bikuben Foundation. Until 2009 the award had another name: 'The Crown Prince Couple's Cultur Prize' and then it was changed to the current name. At the same time, in 2009, the numbers of prizes was expanded from one to four, in three different categories. The Crown Prince Couple's Prizes was in 2013 awarded for the first time outside Denmark, as the awards ceremony was held in the Opera House in Sydney. I'm sure you all remember it very well -the Crown Princess in her stunning pink Ole Yde gown. Overall the prizes focuses on outstanding performances, innovative and excellence ideas in the Danish art and culture such as social work. Below you see the winners and why the prize is given:

  • The Crown Prince Couple's Culture Prize/Kronprinsparrets KulturprisThe prize goes to a Danish, Faroese and Greenlandic artist who has made an outstanding achievement, and one who can expect great achievements in the future, both national and internationally. The winner also gets DKK 500,000.
The Culture Prize winner is: Theater director Elisa Kragerup

  • The Crown Prince Couple's Stardust Prizes/Kronprinsparrets StjernedryspriserIt is given in recognition of innovative, younger Danish, Faroese and Greenlandic artists who have shown the courage to break new ground in their artistic genre which has been innovative and uncompromising in their artistic exploration. The winners are also given DKK 50,000
The winners are: Designer Mark Tan & Author and artist Amalie Smith

  • The Crown Prince Couple's Social Prize/Kronprinsparrets Sociale PrisThis prize is given to a private, public or voluntary association, institution or organization that is behind an innovative, creative and innovative project or initiative for the benefit of socially vulnerable or marginalized groups in Denmark or Greenland. The project gets DKK 500,000. The winner is the project: Mind Your Own Business
A wonderful evening like this takes a wonderful evening gown and Mary didn't disappoint me at all in her dazzling new black outfit. Because I watched the live broadcast yesterday evening I got a glimpse of her look -saw how it moved when she moved. The style was very 50s with its A-line skirt featuring beautiful laser cut flowers, a fitted waist accessorizes with black stones and a turtleneck. I need to admit that I did not see she's wearing a skirt and a blouse. Why didn't I see that? But thanks to all of you, especially Gitte I now see that it is a two piece outfit. Actually we have seen her wear the blouse before at the celebration of Per Thornit's 70-years birthday in 2012, here. This also give us a chance that we actually are able to find out where the skirt comes from. Days before the award show we found out that designer Mark Tan was one of the winners. To honor him he could have created the dress Mary would be wearing at yesterday's show. But I had my doubts. The skirt she wore is too feminine and features too many details. If Mark Tan had designed her outfit I think it had been way more minimalistic and plain. To find the skirt hasn't really been easy and I'm not the one to take the credit for this, cause Kate identified her new laser cut A-line skirt. It is from Sofie Topsøe Mailand (Spring/Summer 2016). Apparently, Sofie designed the skirt as an inspiration from the 50s. You can follow the entire process of her project here. It is really fascination to read her thoughts behind the design. Mary was even more stunning wearing red lipstick and the bordeaux clutch from Sergio Rossi. In my opinion red and black are two of the most glamorous colours in a combo. Absolutely magnificent. I have heard comments about her hairstyle; you think it makes her look old. Sorry but I really love it. It's perfectly styled to match her look. Her use of the Ruby Parure is great! To use the ruby brooch instead of a necklace is brilliant, innovative and creative as the winners of the evenings prizes. I want to mention that earrings, bracelet and ring are not originally a part of the parure such as the brooch is. She completed her outfit with a pair of new black Gianvito Rossi pumps. I'm breathless...

During the show at Kulturværftet in Helsingør, an interview with the Crown Prince couple was broadcasted. Something we see almost every year. Here the couple make a comment about each prize and why it is given. During this year's the interview, the Crown Prince couple wondering around in Helsingør with Kronborg castle in the background. She was dressed in the most beautiful striped shirt dress from Baum und Pferdgarten (Autumn/Winter 2015) which was also posted on their Instagram, here. Wonder what it feels like to see the Crown Princess wear your design? Never mind. She matched the new dress with her beige L.K. Bennett wedges, Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses and bracelets from Charlotte Wæhrens and Anni Lu. Sorry to say, but I can't get enough of this outfit. I would love to wear it myself any time.

It was around dinner time when the Crown Princess arrived to Rundetårn in Copenhagen to present this years Goldsmith Guild Talent Cost St. Loye Prize 2015. Because of the beautiful weather in Copenhagen last night I'm sure it was a special experience for her to attend the presentation. When she arrived to Rundetårn, she was welcomed by CEO Jepser Vang Hansen and Alderman Diana Holstein. The Crown Princess also received a bouquet of flowers at the arrival. A really beautiful one. Half way trough the old iconic building the Crown Princess stopped by the jewellery exhibition The Jewellery City. As if it was no problem at all the Crown Princess steered the round building wearing heeled shoes. Maybe I should tell you why this is a little more special this time. Rundetårn is a 41.55 meter high building located in the centre of Copenhagen. In English 'Rundetårn' means 'round tower'. The building is especially known for its spiraling staircase, leading all the way up to a viewing platform. It goes back to 1642 and is build by King Christian 4th. Enough with all the history. Now you know a little more about the location where the Crown Princess presented the St. Loye Prize 2015 and visited The Jewellery City-exhibition.
The St. Loye Prize 2015 and DKK 100,000 were handed over to the goldsmith Christina Bukkehave who is the designer of 'BUKKEHAVE'. Think her jewellery are very artistic, modern and with a twist something Scandinavian. She plays with the different shapes and metals. Among others Bukkehave use pearls, diamonds and amber to give the jewellery a feminine touch. I think she is a very talented and creative jewellery designer who deserve the acknowledgement. Some of Christina Bukkehave's designs were exhibited in Rundetårn. Congratulations to Christina with the fine prize.

I know I've said this before, but somehow Mary keeps surprising me. When I think: now it does not get any better, it actually does. At yesterdays evening event Mary wore a brand new black A-line dress featuring some kind of golden jacquard detailing. This is a dress you either love or hate. I really adore it especially with the high neck, long sleeves and pattern. What was your first thought? There has been so many speculations about where the dress is from. Pernille has suggested a Marisota dress, which is why I contacted them. They never responded my request. In the meantime Kate has been able to identify her new golden wonder as Ganni (Pre-Spring 2016). At one point my mind crossed Ganni, but I didn't find what I was looking for. Now we finally know the true identity of her new lurex dress. I still hope we will see more articles and pictures -then I maybe will be able to identify her earrings. I am pretty sure they are from Figaros Bryllup. After all I know that her bracelets and ring are from Marianne Dulong. Thanks to Heaven I know that she was wearing her beige Christian Louboutin pumps. A really lovely outfit.

Are you the next owner?

I am sure you remember this specific dress when you see the pictures below. The Crown Princess wore this beautiful Massimo Dutti dress during Wimbledon 2014 in London, here and secondly when visiting Cape Town the same year, here. Maybe you wonder why I'm telling you all this. The reason is simple: couple of days ago I was contacted by the sweetest women who kindly asked if I would help her sell her dress -the same as the Crown Princess. And of course I will. So, now you have the chance to purchase your very own Massimo Dutti dress. Do you want to be the next owner? Well, then contact: michellewesthoff@btinternet.com

Old news: The Crown Princess in Milan

September

Two days ago the Crown Princess ended her New York-visit where she attended activities and meeting's in addition to the UN International Conference on Population and Development, here, here, here. Among others she attended meetings with the High-Level Task Force organization, Global Leaders' and the Maternal Foundation.  I think she was honored to get the opportunity to participate, show her commitment and maybe also to get prepared to her role as host of the Women Deliver Conference in 2016 -get some ideas, meet people and get all the latest news about future projects etc. Crown Princess Mary traveled last Sunday to attend the conference in New York.

A week before she went on a short trip to Italy, more specific Milan to go shopping, here. Walking in the streets and looking like everybody else, she ruled the fashion city wearing a classy and a the same time casual outfit. What I love about her look is the possibilities. With a pair of heeled shoes and it's the perfect evening outfit. Very scandinavian -navy blue capri trousers, a white peplum and the long black coat. Non of this are yet identified. She completed the look with what I think could be a new pair of Marianne Dulong earrings made of white gold, a necklace from Orti Elhanati and a gold ring from Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen. I think I see one of her Anni Lu or Charlotte Wæhrens bracelets as well. She wore a Prada tote handbag and loafers both seen before. Finally, I have been able to identify her grey loafers which took me quite a long time. They are from Rêve. So, to those of you who love them as much as I do, you now know where to get them. The coral shades she wore is new and now also identified as Balenciaga. First time she wears shades from that designer. Do you like them? Think they are pretty cool.

Day 3. International Conference on Population and Development

Tuesday, September 29th

Crown Princess Mary attended different activities on occasion of the International Conference on Population and Development in New York. The Crown Princess has been present since September 27th.

Program:
  • 9:10 am. Crown Princess Mary attended the Women Deliver: The Road to Copenhagen 2016 meeting organized by Women Deliver, UNWomen and the Danish UN Mission

September 29th was her finial day in New York. After a three-day visit and participation the in the International Conference on Population and Developments different activities. The third day the Crown Princess attended Women Delivers: The Road to Copenhagen 2016 together with Executive directors of UN Women and Women Deliver, Kristian Jensen the Danish foreign minister, ministers for gender equality as well as young people from around the world all to discuss investment in girls' and women's health, rights and well-being. I am sure you all know that the Women Deliver Conference is taking place in Denmark next year in Mary with Crown Princess Mary as patron of the arrangement. During the one and a half hour meeting with Women Deliver they talked about next year's conference and what's it's all about: fighting to help girls and women to a better life. Everyone participating were in a extremely great mood as well the Crown Princess. In her speech she also mentioned how much she look forward to 2016 and to be able to host Women Deliver Conference in Denmark. Everyone was enthusiastic about the project. Because of the fifth goal of the UN 17th world goals about gender equality was brought up at the meeting, all the participating members were ready to take the chance to fight for the rights of girls and women.

It was her blue Signe Bøgelund-Jensen dress that caught my eye right away. I am not sure any other dress could have been more appropriate than this. It features some incredible details. It is not the first time we get to see her in Bøgelund-Jensen creations and I do not hope it is the last time. I would really love to see Mary wear this dress again. To match the blue and white printed dress, Mary accessorized the outfit with a leather belt, earrings and a ring featuring blue stones from Pomellato and other golden bracelets from Marianne Dulong. I also noticed that she was wearing her golden twisted Orit Elhanati necklace. Love how she mix and match all these small jewellery. Looks sophisticated and really stylish. Yet another blue accessory, are the pumps. These we have seen once before when she last year visited Home on occasion of the Child Welfare Day which Mary is patron of, here. At that time she also match the pumps with other blue pieces. Enough about all the talking. The lovely electric blue suede pumps are from Gianvito Rossi. I wonder how this dress would look with red pumps or maybe even green? This is why I truly hope we get to see the dress again -to see what other accessory she will wear to match it. She rock my world with this outfit. Makes me wanna try something similar. Could you see yourself wear a dress like this? A magnificent look the last day in New York.
