A Little Summer Reading

Not much are going on right now in the royal family, they are more or less all on vacation just like Mary and her family. I had an eye on her official calendar to find out where we can expect to see her again for an official event. Nothings yes planned for quite some months, we just have to wait. Many of you might already be back from your vacation, mine are just about to start! Within the next few days I'm going on vacation this year to Belgium. I have never been there and I really look forward to experience the culture, eat food I never heart off and visit all the beautiful places. Maybe I get the change to get a glimpse of the King and Queen? These days I'm wondering around the house to find all my things to pack. I'm going on camping, so lots of books, dresses and shorts are in my suitcase. Books are almost the most important thing for me, these I simply can't forget. It is it is the epitome of holiday for me.

Photography at Gråsten Castle

Saturday, July 25

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended the annual summer photography at Gråsten Castle with they four children.

Billedbladet.dk 1

A day I have been waiting for is finally here - the annual photo shooting of the present royal family who's on vacation at Gråsten Castle in Jutland. I hoped to see Prince Joachim and Princess Marie with their children also but I assume that they are on holiday somewhere in the wide world. The daughter of Princess Benedikte, Princess Alexandra, and her husband as well as her two children Count Richard and Countess Ingrid did also stay at Gråsten these days. The disappointment would have been greater if Frederik and Mary did not participate. It is the epitome of summer for me, the annual summer photos. The weather is pretty bad in Denmark these days and the family also had to postpone the meeting with the press because of the rainy weather. But I am still optimistic, rainy days are also beautiful. The weather certainly had not ruined the mood of the royal family. The children had fun and the adults seemed to have had a great time as well.

To you who are interested, I can tell who were present today:
- Queen Margrethe & Prince Henrik
- Crown Prince Frederik & Crown Princess Mary
- Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent & Princess Josephine
- Princess Alexandra & Count Jefferson
- Count Richard & Countess Ingrid

The first thing I noticed when I saw the first pictures from today, was that everyone was dressed in colours that matched! Everyone of them matched. In orange, blue, pink and white. If I were you I'd take a second look at the pictures where we see all of them. A considered choice. Princess Josephine, with her broken arm, was dressed in a orange and green Poppy Rose dress which was identified by Kate and Lurdes. Thanks for being so attentive! Her hair was in a sweet french side braid, Princess Isabella had a similar hairstyle. If you like it as much as I do, I have found this guide to you. Have fun! When we talk about the wonderful young lady Princess Isabella, she was in a fantastic white lcd dress from Little Remix, also identified by Kate. She was also the one who found out Prince Vincent is wearing a Pili Carrera shirt.

I love that Frederik and Mary was wearing similar colours; white and navy blue. I know that some of you had a wish, to see her in a short dress today. I was actually hoping for something long because Mary looks so good in long dresses or in this case skits. It's not the first time at the annual photo shoot she's wearing maxi-clothes. Last year, 2014, she was in a maxi-dress by Ganni and in 2012 in a dress from Free People. Today she changed the dress to a maxi skirt featuring a slit maybe identified as By Malene Birger thanks to Reines & PrincessesZara is the designer of the new white lace blouse identified by Kate. Thanks for taking the time to find this! Funny that it's much easier to find the kids clothes then Mary's. The jewellery I can tell you about or some of them. Two of her necklaces are from Orit Elhanati and Marianne Dulong. The silver necklace with the pendant could be a gift from when she visited Ethiopia in February. Her silver diamond ring is from Ole Lynggaard and the golden leaf is seen several times before and is from I'm Jewel. Anni Lu is her bracelets.

Vote for your favourite summer outfit of Mary's at Royalista!

A Day at Gråsten Castle

Friday, July 24

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary are on vacation with their four children at Gråsten Castle and today they viewed the guard change.

Now it's time for a real post. Yesterday I had been doing the post about Mary's basic wardrobe, which I hope you like. As you know I have a special love for this vacation. It has become kind of a tradition for the present royal family to view the guard change at Gråsten. I remember when Princess Isabella was only a few years old, she was wearing a red dress and had a red ballon. It ran off and a guard caught it and handed it over to her. Out came the most sweet pictures! Now she's older but still as sweet. Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik are back from their trip to Greenland to spend some time with their family at the old haunting castle. I've seen some pictures from the visit and I really think they had a good time.

Frederik and Mary seems to have a great holiday in Denmark with their four children. I like the fact that they are protecting the children from the press. Then it's lovely to see them with mom and dad. Now I might sound old but to see the kids grow up is fantastic. Prince Christian is now a young man similar to his dad just like his brother Prince Vincent a more shy little guy with his blond hair. The two boys were both in shirts and shorts like Frederik. Vincent probably wore a shirt from Poppy Rose. Their sister Princess Isabella is already a young lady with her mothers taste in clothes. I'm sure Mary help her but girl's in her age are already independent and want to make their own choices. Princess Isabella wore a Poppy Rose blouse and a Norlie skirt. Noticed that the two girl's are wearing the same sandals! To me Princess Josephine looks the most like Mary when she was a child. Wonderful kids! I want to add a thing, I don't know if you have interest in the girl's clothes as well but I think it's a little funny to find and share it with you.

Once again Mary surprises my with her clothes. It was love at first sight! The new skirt and top feature an amazing print. My wish have been heard! With the help from an fantastic reader, Ida, I now know that her very popular set is from the Danish brand SAND Copenhagen!! Thank you so much Ida for your help, it's very much appreciated. I would love to own the set as well. Bordeaux is one of my favourite colour and it's so modern and stylish. I think it could be a set you either like or hate. What is your opinion? Online I haven't yet found her matching set but I found a dress and blouse with the same pattern. She matched her beige Tod's wedges with the new floral set. The hair looks so casual, something I would like to learn. My hair has a tendency to be straight whatever I do. Some day I'll know the trick! She added a few pair of jewellery to the outfits. The necklace has been worn by her before and I still think it's created by the Danish jewellery designer Charlotte Lynggaard from Ole Lynggaard. She was also wearing two bracelets which I'm sure are from Anni Lu and one new from jewellery designer Charlotte Wæhrens. Thanks to Pernille & Kate to let me know about this!

I look forward to see the family again tomorrow at the annual photography at Gråsten Castle. Maybe we'll also see Prince Joachim and Princess Marie with their children, I hope so.

Get a Basic Wardrobe like Mary

If you are follower of this blog you probably have a passion for fashion, Crown Princess Mary and are a interested in how to dress decent. One of the reasons why I started Styleofmary is because I love the way Mary dresses; she knows who to look good and embrace what she has, like long slim legs or a petite upper body and a beautiful face. It's all about finding the clothes, shoes and accessories that fits your body and more important personality. When to choose clothes you everyday and work also decide what you should wear. I have a very classic style with feminine items that last for a long time. I love to buy a skirt or blouse I know is trendy five years later. By that I do not only wear black, white and grey. Well, I decided to make this post because I want to share some fashion-tips and tricks with you as seen on Mary. I know may of you are inspired by her, just like me, and with some simple basic rules you can easily build a wardrobe like Mary's. To find some basic items are essential to fashionable wardrobe. By looking at Mary you find out that a few essentials can create several amazing outfits which makes you feel comfortable when you wear it. To me it is important to give the message to find clothes that suits your body such as personality and not to forget something that makes you feel good!

1. Embrace your figure!
The first thing is to find out how you body look, what shapes does it have? We are not all alike, every single human look different and that's great! By finding your body type, it will be much easier to find clothes that fit and highlights your benefits. I have spend year on finding the one like mine and I'm a classic pear-shape. It's hard work to be well-dressed. Four typical body figures are hourglass, pear, apple and straight. You find a great article about female figures here. The article are illustrated with pictures. We have a tendency to dress like everybody else because we think we have the same figure, that's not always right. Find your own and love it!

2. Remember your personality
The body figure is the first step, then it's important to remember who you are, personality, what you work with, how is your everyday and what style do you like. If you're a bit old fashioned then by lot of fashion magazines and cut everything out you like to find the things you love. If you're more in to using technology then Pinterest is a great choice - I've become a little addicted. Pinterest is also great to give you ideas for your figure. Take a look what you chose. Now you know what suits you and what you like, time to combine. This is not something you learn right away but practice makes a master! You're passion for fashion allow you to learn.

3. Wear clothes that makes you feel good
The headline says it all. To me this is so important, I love to see women wearing clothes that makes them feel good and it is so clear to see when they do. When you feel good in what you wear it automatically makes you look more confident. Who does not want to look more confident? It all depend on who you are and what you like. Personally I feel good wearing stretch clothes and vintage dresses.

I hope some of this will help you and give you inspiration to use some time on yourself, because that's important sometimes, and that you find out that with the right basic wardrobe whatever you are Crown Princess Mary or not you deserve some glamour! Let me know you miss anything or want me to help you in the jungle of inspiration. Have fun!

The black trousers

Black trousers are the perfect item despite the monotone colour. The thing about basic items is that most of them are in black, white, grey, blue, powder pink or caramel. These piece makes it possible for you to create any outfit you like and in the combination with a bright print or casual accessory you can dress for your style. In April Mary showed her long slim legs in black trousers and actually has she been wearings this basic item quite a lot lately. You can match any blouse or jacket to a pair of black trousers. I never owned black trousers but one day I fell in love with a pair and I haven't regretted it. I wear them day and night. Mary both have them with wide and slim legs, low and high-waisted.

The classic blazer

Who says that a basic blazer has be black or white? If I had to choose I would say everyone should have at least one blazer in a suitable colour for their skin and hair colour. This item is inspired by the male wardrobe but it work so well for women as well. To wear a blazer gives a outfit the last finish and is at the same time practical when the weather is as in Denmark - sunny but not warm. Wear a blazer over a dress, something we have seen so many times on Mary, or with trousers: printed or plain. You can find several different models, one to your shape. Some of them are straight, some with a peplum effect, long and short once. I'm a fan of blazer and keep buying new all the time. When you have one you find out how much you're going to love them. I need a white one like Mary's from Alexander McQueen! Or one with a leather trim.

The glamours coat

A coat is just so royal! Because with a coat you do not wear a jacket to keep you warm, a coat is elegant and the perfect basic item. In a caramel colour like Mary's you bring the coat to a all new level. In my opinion this can be worn by all body types you just need to find the exact model that suits you. This can only be done by you and some hours in a store. Try on different once and search for the one that looks great on you. A coat can be double breasted or single, have a belt or non, have a skirt or be straight. Give the time to find the right one because with a good basic outdoor you can dress fashionable and you don't have to be cold. Invest the time for a good basic wardrobe.

The simple pumps

Stilettos are known to embrace the beauty in women. Add a pair of pumps and your outfit is transformed! It takes its woman to wear high heels all the time but sometimes we just have to suffer to be well-dressed. To wear pumps or heeled sandals makes you body look more straight and you walk completely different with more elegance. They make your legs longer. Depended on your legs length and figure you can find the right shoes to your shape. Out there you can find guides to help you find those you should wear. Because of my hight (159 cm) I could wear high shoes all the time without no one noticed it. But I don't. High heeled shoes is ideal if you want to spice your look. Pumps in beige, black and navy are essential for your basic wardrobe! That is something Mary knows all about. She has a huge collection of shoes.
* Madden Girl * LuLu's * Topshop * Duffy * L.K. Bennett * Dorothy Perkins *

The indispensable shades

Shades you can live without. To find the right sunglasses is as hard as finding the right clothes. Do me favor try on different once and find those how looks good on you. Just like dresses you can get shades in all sizes, colours etc. Mary is a fan of wearing pretty large shades with leopard print from both Chanel and Dolce & Gabanna. You can get much cheaper once! The shape of your head, your style and personally favourite are all things you need to consider when finding your next shades. The cat-eye shape is so trendy right now.
* A.J. Morgan * Ray-Ban * Le Specs * Vero Moda *

The handbag

Every woman need a handbag. Mary have plenty of them in all sizes and colours. One for each occasion. As any other accessory you just have to choose. If you are petite like me a huge handbag is not the best because then it looks like the bag is wearing you. So choose a handbag for your needs, style and body size. Remember every size has their benefits! When we talk about basic bags I have to mention that you also need some kind of clutch. The same rules as for everything else. A clutch is the woman's best friend these years. I have to admit I'm more a hand-shoulderbag type but I also have maybe too many clutches... The beige or caramel coloured bag is always trendy. Think about the beige Chanel bag Mary has; use the last 10 years and is still so fantastic!
* Mango * Romwe * Michael KorsTopshop *

The practical cardigan

Mother and daughter in each their cardigan. Really, a cardigan isn't that exciting I hate to buy them because I can't find the exact right for me. I don't think my figure is very well placed in cardigan. Still I can't live without them. I don't know if you ever heard of the 3-piece outfit? Well, it's pretty simple - when to choose your outfit you match three items. That's what Mary and Princess Isabella did when Isabella was on her first royal job at Samsø. They made it work so well! I think the key to wear a cardigan in great way, is to match them in the same colour as your blouse or dress.
* H&M * Zara * Revolve * Chicwish * John Lewis * L.K. Bennett *

The little black dress

Actually we do not that often see Mary in a black dress, she prefer something more colourful. A more elegant and classic dress you can't find. The little black dress is loved by almost any woman in the wold, the possibility with this dress is uncountable. The little black dress was invented  by Coco Chanel one of the greatest designer in the history of fashion. How to dress up this classic item all depend on your style. Mary styled her with black and gold accessories, a very classic and chic match. Both for everyday and evening wear the dress can be styled with every colour, shoes, jewellery etc. Women need to have one of these! Find yours and dress it up with feminine, cool or elegant accessories!
* Manifiq&Co * Modcloth * Ivanka Trump * Topshop * Pink Queen * Aidan Mattox *

The signature jewellery

If your name is Mary and you are the Crown Princess of Denmark you love one specific pair of white pearl earrings. You guessed it, her gold and white pearl earrings designed by Marianne Dulong. A basic wardrobe does also include some choices about basic jewellery. To have some few items you can add whatever you're wearing. Mary's has to be these earrings. I think this are the pair of earrings she has worn most times. Basic jewellery are a bit more difficult for to me tip you about, because maybe you have a ring or necklace that means a lot to you - this will automatically be your specific jewellery to wear. To me jewellery are very personal and always have a history. But gold, silver and pearls are always trendy and is always in. You're never wrong with these three materials. A watch could also be your statement jewellery. Like all other basic items; allow yourself to invest in these things; just a little advise.

#MRLoveMyHair with Madison Reed!

This post is made in collaboration Madison Reed! I am so thrilled. I love to collaborate with such companies, it makes a normal post much more exciting to both read and write. Madison Reed is all about hair and hair care. They also have a specific mission; to make personal care more personal. In their opinion this is done by re-developing the hair colour industry with innovative and technology-enabled hair care and colour product. Doesn't sounds good? They support you every step of the way to make your hair look its best  and let you fell fantastic. Madison Reed offer a little more glamour in your everyday! Just what any woman need. The company work with five things: Courage, Trust, Love, Responsibility & Joy.

I'm focusing on their very interesting hair-o-scope. My first impression was: what on earth is a hair-o-scope?! You might think the same right now that wouldn't surprise me at all. Still, this hair-o-scope-thing sounded exciting and I just had to know more about it. Have I also aroused your curiosity? Then keep reading. Before you keep reading I have to tell you that is might only be for you who find interested in the astrological signs and their meaning. The twelve zodiac signs have also been a great passion for me and in the combination with hair, well it does not get any better for me. The thing is that Madison Reed have developed their own horoscope for hair. So dependent on which zodiac you are, Madison Reed give you the best tip for a good hair day. And who does not want to have good days every day? I found it very entertaining and instructive to read more about my own zodiac in the hair-o-scope. You find them all here.

This is a blog about Crown Princess Mary therefore I decided, with Madison Reed's permission, to show her hair-o-scope and I got the chance to talk about her hair as well. It all depend on when you are born. Mary was born on January 5th so her astrological sign is: Aquarius (January 20 to February 18).

Hair-o-Scope for Aquarius:

"Oh airy Aquarius, how we envy your cool confidence, comic prowess, and knack for new technology. Your open-mindedness has earned you a loyal crew that loves basking in your fun-loving company and they can usually find you marching in protest of injustice (if you're not communing with nature in the mountains)."

" We know you love to keep up with the latest gadgets and trends, so experiment with a daring 'do. Make a statement with a dramatically darkened hair. Or, play up that cute smile with an edgy pixie that frames your face with fluttery tendrils."

Hair colour like Mary by Madison Reed:

This is Madison Reed's hair-o-scope for Crown Princess Mary! To sum up; Mary has brown hair sometimes pretty dark, her hair is always voluminous & flowing free that's how we see her most of the time. She's open-minded and confident as well as smiley. The above suggested hair colours is some I have found to match the colour of Mary. Right now hers are a mix between blonde, brown and some red. Actually Madison Reed have made their own hair dye advisor, so if you would like hair as Mary you now have my suggestions, you can find them on your own right here or use the hair dye advisor if you're looking for some completely else. I had fun finding my 'new ideal' colour and another great thing is when you have done this little questionnaire, your answers are saved to later and they advise you when looking for you new colour! Can we ask for more? I hope you had as much fun as me reading and learning about this. I thank Madison Reed for the chance to share their thoughts with all of you. So hurry up and find your next hairstyle with your hair-o-scope!

Gråsten Parade

Sunday, July 19

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary received the Gråsten Ring Riding association's parade. This took place at Gråsten Castle where the Royal family is on vacation. Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine did also attended at today's event.

Billedbladet.dk 1
Frederiketmary.centerblog.net 1 2

Most Danes are on vacation right now and I really also look forward that is soon is my turn to pack my suitcase and travel to another country to experience something new and exciting. On August 1st I  go on vacation to Belgium with my family. The holiday-time is such a great time a year because you get to spend time with your family and often see a new country where you are about the experience their culture. When I'm on holiday, me and my family loves to see some historical things, to experience the soul of the country we are in. Like millions other we go camping which gives us the opportunity to move around; see what we want and then move to another place.

The royal family are also on vacation, this year they moved into Gråsten Castle which is a bit unusual. Most year they are at the wine castle Cayx in France, owned by the family of Prince Henrik. I love that Frederik and Mary show their children that a vacation in Denmark is just as good as anywhere else. When I was little my parents did also go on vacation in my homeland, Denmark, and I remember my holidays as good as those in Italy and Germany. This gives some other possibilities.  I'm sure Frederik and Mary enjoying some time with their children and the other way around. For the family to break their vacation and attend a event like the Gråsten parade today is great. They take the time to meet the participants and those Danes who attend the parade - some of them might just because of the attending of Frederik and Mary. It is also a bit special that all four children are there, they have all there childhood been protected from the public and press. Therefor I think the Danes adore to actually see them and they are so polite and well-behaved. All four children seemed to really enjoy the day today. Princess Isabella and her two younger siblings, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine with her broken arm, greeted many of the participants of the parade, while Prince Christian enjoyed the day close to his father. I think Christian is very similar to Frederik when it comes to being public, a slightly reticent person. Nothing bad about that! Mary was smily and outgoing as always; good-looking and friendly.

Actually I do not live that far from Gråsten and Gråsten Castle, unfortunately I did not have the time to go down there and see them. Maybe I'll get the chance again.

One thing I noticed was both Mary, Christian, Josephine and Isabella were wearing green turquoise colour. The remarkable colour was worn by the two princesses as each their dress from Poppy Rose, a brand Princess Isabella is often seen wearing. Honest, there is something really cute of those princesses to wear the same dress. I just hope that they have decided it and not their parents. To me it gives the felling that Isabella is a wonderful sister to wear the same as her younger sister. The dresses were identified by the one and only Kate! Princess Isabella topped her look off with a hairdo and golden sandals and Princess Josephine in her sweet dress wore silver metallic sandals and loose hair. In the same colour as his sisters dresses Prince Christian was in green turquoise shorts and a shirt like this dad. Frederik wore long trousers in blue as his son Prince Vincent. A family were all clothes matched! Flowers, lots of flowers(!!), was handed over such as gifts. So sweet!

Then we have Mary left. In her new creamy shirtdress featuring a significant and stunning pattern she stole my heart. With this outfit she was more a background standing behind her adorable children. A casual look added classic Tod's beige wedges. The new dress featured two pockets and a ribbon in the waist such as long sleeves. Unbelievable, Heaven found her dress and it was a Heartmade by Julie Fagerholt (Spring/Summer 2015) creation! Feminine as she is, Mary added a long necklace with a turquoise pendant, I'm sure Marianne Dulong is the designer, and in the same colour a ring. Actually this ring was worn by her last year at the yearly photography-day at Gråsten. Funny thing; she wore the same ring last year and the same colour dress! You remember it? Take a look at the post I made right here. One of her other gold necklaces is from Orit Elhanati and another one which might be from the new Marianne Dulong & Daughters collection.

I look forward to see more pictures and read even more articles from today. Have a great day everyday!

Vacation at Gråsten Castle

It is a tradition for Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary with their four children to stay for a few days at Gråsten Castle along with the rest of the Danish family. This year this vacation is a bit more unusual then the past years because the royal couple are actually moved into the Castle this summer. We have already seen Mary and Frederik riding, Mary bicycling with Prince Christian, Princess Isabella and the twins where she wore a new lovely knitted blouse I have found at JOSEPH. Then the new came that Princess Josephine broke her left arm because of a riding accident; she's doing fine! Latest we saw the little family, except Princess Isabella, on a bike ride. When mom and dad are coming King and Queen of Denmark, I think it's great for the four royal children to spend some time with their parents outside public - even though some photos have been published. I'm sure Mary and Frederik have the same feeling when it comes to spend time with their children. We all love the summer and our vacation! Now I also have the opportunity to tell you a bit more about Gråsten Castle and its history. A passion of mine is to know the history or some of it, of the royal family and castles, palaces etc. I hope you find it interesting!

The original Gråsten Castle has its history back to the 1500s and was a relatively small hunting castle. In 1603, a new castle was built since the former hunting castle was burned down the same year. It is believed to be built where the current castles south wing is located today. From 1662-1682 the castle was owned by Chancellor Frederik Ahlefeldt (1623-1689) and his son built a large Baroque palace - also burned down in the 1757th. Chancellor Frederik Ahlefeldt was a knight of the Order of the Elephant, the most prestigious in Denmark. The Castle Church and a few pavilions were the only thing left after the fire in 1757. The current Gråsten castle is dated from 1759, where a new south wing was built and in 1842 the central building was built. The castle have had several owners. From 1725-1852 it was owned by the August Citizens (Augustenborgerne) where Frederik 7. took over the castle. The August Citizens became the owners again in 1864. 1920, the government took over the castle and it was used for courtrooms, library and housing for judges and the police chiefs.

Then Gråsten castle underwent a large renovation and in 1935 the palace was given as a summer residence for the then Crown Prince couple - Crown Prince Frederik 8th and Princess Ingrid. Until the death of Queen Ingrid, the castle has been used as a royal summer residence. Today Queen Margrethe is the owner and keep the tradition and stay there every year. The family is also invited such as this year. A castle with a long history!

Summer Greetings from Mary

Wednesday, July 3

Crown Princess Mary posted a summer greeting on Mary Foundation's Facebook page:
"A summer greeting from the Crown Princess:
This picture is a good memory from last summer. For many people summer is associated with light, joy and time to be with family and friends. But for some people the summer amplifier the feeling of loneliness, because the social life moves out into public therefore, we have to remember those we tend to forget - even in the bright time. Happy summer.
Greeting the Crown Princess"

Old News: Dressage at Broholm Castle

Thursday/Friday, June 11-12

About a month ago Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary were invited to attend this years royal wedding in Sweden between Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist on June 13th. Two days before Mary went on a short stay at Broholm Castle to attend the yearly DM rally in dressage. It was a unofficial event. According to Billed Bladet is Mary a guest they see every year. Caroline Heering and Mette Ahlefeldt-Laurvig did also attend to watch the dressage. Friday after lunch Mary arrived to Amalienborg Castle once again to attend the royal wedding the next day.

The two days outfits were simple and casual with a touch of Mary's amazing style. One day she matched a light blue Hugo Boss blazer featuring white buttons, a white pleated blouse and black trousers. Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses and white pearl Marianne Dulong earrings made her look a feminine and classic! Her second outfit was a pair of black trousers, white blouse and dark green jacket which might be her one from Strenesse. She added her brown leather Ralph Lauren tote bag to the outfit and the same Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses. Two outfits I would love to see her wear any time at any occasion.

Special Performance in the Opera

Saturday, July 4

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary attended a special performance and dinner in the Opera on the occasion of Hempel's 100th anniversary.

Sometimes it doesn't matter how many pictures you can find of her when she's on an event but this time it makes me frustrated... First of all, they are attending a special performance in the Opera in Copenhagen and later a dinner, so there is an unofficial dress coat which means a suit for Frederik and a knee/floor-lenght dress/gown for Mary. Second, there is a chance Mary would be wearing extravagant jewellery and accessories. You might always realized that there are not many photos from this very special occasion, which makes me wonder. A special occasion like this should get much attention from the press because of the appearance of the Crown Prince Couple. And my prayers have been heard!

... By the way, read my latest post at Royalista right here! Christening is the theme

Almost every single time Mary is somewhere I am always amazed by her elegance, her look, her manners and not to forget glowing personality. I think we all imagine a princess to wear a huge pink tulle dress with shiny eyes, a dazzling smile and tiara on the head, just like any Disney princess. Despite Mary did not wore a huge gown or one of her tiaras, she made me think of fairy tale princess in her 2004 Fall Prada pleated dress featuring a white hemline on the skirt. If I'm correct this will be the fifth time:
  1. 2004, Summer Ballet at Bellevue Theatre
  2. Around 2006 at a christening
  3. 2008, Royal Lifeguard 350th anniversary
  4. 2013, Day 3 on a visit to Malaysia
To this wonderful Prada dress she added a few jewellery; a pair of very beautiful earrings featuring diamonds and two different jewellery stones - so feminine - worn at several occasions before this one and then we have the pretty and very expensive Piaget diamond necklace. Back in 2013 when attending the presentation of the Carlsberg Foundations Research Award she wore it the first time with a electric blue suit, a more modern look then yesterdays feminine outfit. When they arrived by boat from Amalienborg to the Opera she was wearing a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses, so chick! The clutch she wore at the special performance in the opera was as the dress from Prada. Back in 2012 she showed it when she attended Save a mother's life at mothers day and finally I can tell who the designer is of her shoes. After a long time I found a picture show her feet and I'm pretty sure Gianvito Rossi is the designer.

For a long time I haven't made the 'Royal Style' tips but now it's time again because Mary showed something interesting with yesterdays outfit. The combination with the rather long Piaget diamond necklace and the pretty large V-neck on the Prada dress makes her upper body seems much longer - this is a great tip for those of you who think you have a short upper body.
